Detect4Mould tells you whether a suspected mould sample contains Aspergillus, Penicillium or Stachybotrys, the mould often called black mould. These are mould species the U.S. EPA considers to be health concerns, and they are linked with poor indoor air quality.

Mould grows where moisture sits: after a leak, around windows that collect condensation, and in rooms that do not get enough ventilation. Seeing mould tells you it is there. Testing it tells you which kind it is.

Tenant or homeowner with visible mould who wants to know what it is: Recommended.

Detect4Mould is a qualitative screening test. It tells you whether these moulds are present in the sample you test. It does not measure how much mould there is or test the air in the room. If a test is positive or the mould covers a large area, have a qualified mould professional assess the property before you start repairs.
